Services

1) Comprehensive Eye Exams for Adults and Children
The eye exam consists of two parts: The first part of the exam is to determine if you have a vision condition.  Vision conditions can include Amblyopia (lazy eye), Astigmatism, Hyperopia, Myopia, Presbyopia and Strabismus (eye turn).  The second part requires a slit lamp exam and a dilation to determine the presence of any eye disease.  Some of the most common eye abnormalities can include Cataracts, Dry Eye Syndrome, Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Retinal Detachments and Vitreous Floaters.

2) Contact Lens Fit

After a comprehensive exam, measurements of the cornea are taken to determine the best contact lenses for your eyes.  If you have never worn contacts, we will train you on how to handle the lenses and educate you on cleaning and care techniques. We then offer you a free set of contacts to try for one week to ensure the vision and comfort is satisfactory.  Contact lenses we commonly prescribe are Colored Contacts, Contacts for overnight wear (breathable lenses), Contacts for Astigmatism, Bifocal Contacts and Rigid Gas Permeable Contacts (hard contacts).

3) Emergency Services

We provide urgent care to all patients during normal office hours for eye injuries, eye infections or contact lens related problems.  Eye emergencies can include Conjunctivitis (pink eye), Hordeolum (stye), Foreign body removal, Corneal ulcers and Abrasions (scratches).  If you are under the care of our doctor, we will provide you with a treatment plan and schedule the appropriate follow-up times to ensure you are closely monitored until your condition resolves. If we determine your diagnosis needs additional care, we will refer you to a specialist.

4) Ocular Disease Diagnosis and Management

Many eye diseases can be asymptomatic; therefore, we perform a detail check of the anterior and posterior health of the eye. Along with the dilation and or retinal imaging we pay close attention to your family history and your medical history while reviewing the eye to detect any diseases. Diabetic exams are included in our analysis of the retina and we can communicate the results to your primary care doctor. Once we have detected a problem in your eye, we will choose how to manage it for the best outcome.

5) Cataract Surgery Co-Management
We determine during the eye exam if your cataracts are ready for surgery or whether we should monitor it yearly.  Once we determine the cataracts are affecting your ability to see clearly with glasses, we will refer you to a cataract surgeon.  The surgeon will perform a series of tests before scheduling your surgery.  After your surgery we will then follow you for 1 week, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months to make sure your eyes are healing appropriately.  We will also provide you with a prescription for new glasses during this time if needed.

6) Laser Vision Consultation
Many patients are a candidate for laser vision correction.  We provide you with a full comprehensive exam to evaluate your prescription and corneal measurements.  Once we determine you are a preliminary candidate, we then refer you to a Lasik surgeon who will perform additional measurements to make a final determination on eligibility.  We then work closely with your surgeon after surgery to perform a series of follow-up care at our office over a period of 1 year to ensure your vision is monitored closely.

7) Drivers License Forms and Miscellaneous Forms
We will gladly fill out the results of your vision test on your provided form after completing a comprehensive eye exam with photos or dilation.  Driver’s license forms differ between states so some may require additional testing.  Similarly, most other forms presented to us may require testing not included in the comprehensive exam.  In each case once you present us with your form, we will look it over and we will brief you with any additional testing required for us to complete it and whether there will be any additional charges.

8) Retinal Photography
The retina camera takes a digital picture of the retina, optic nerve and macula. It requires no drops and has no side effects.  It is interpreted and reviewed by the doctor at the time of your exam.  The photos allow us to check for and or monitor most diseases including Diabetes, Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure or Cancers that cause changes in the back of the eye.  The images become a permanent part of your record and are stored for future comparisons. The photos do not determine the prescription and in some cases we will recommend the dilation and photos.

9) Myopia Management
Myopia is on the rise globally and in some cases, it can lead to eye diseases.  High myopia can increase the risk of cataracts, glaucoma and retina detachments.  In some instances, it can cause macular changes that can lead to irreversible vision loss.  It causes your eyes to increase in length with most changes happening between 8-12 years old. We utilize contact lenses or eye drops to slow prescription changes although outcomes are not predictable or guaranteed. We educate both patient and parent on each plan and set the appropriate follow-ups to monitor progress.
